Read More...]]> Our Annual Session held in Dearborn, Michigan is now history. A new Grand Monarch ‘Moe’ Evans was installed and we look forward to another year being able to help even more children through our dental program. This past year’s Grand Monarch Shuards Sutherland set the standards very high and the generosity of those attending this year’s session was overwhelming along with all of you who were so generous throughout the year. PGM Shuards proved we can have fun raising money to help the children.

Our Thursday night program at convention was a huge success. One of the children in our dental program and his family helped us welcome all who attended the Thursday Night Humanitarian Program. He was very shy but so delightful and thanked the Grottoes for their help.

This year Grand Monarch ‘Moe’ is inviting you to be a “Key Player” Providing a Smile to a Special Needs Child”. With your Enchanted Lantern contribution, you will receive a key and you will become a ‘Key Player’ helping the many children through our program.

According to a recent Department of Health and Human Services national survey of children with special health care needs, families reported that the service most commonly needed, but not received, is dental care. Additionally, the perceived need for dental care for special needs children exceeded the need for either preventive or specialty medical care.

I recently had a birthday, which always makes one think about aging. The truth is, the membership of the Grottoes of North America is also aging!

While we’re enjoying spring and the season of new beginnings, I hope you will think about inviting younger Masons to your meetings and younger members of your communities to open events.

Strong Grottoes mean a strong future for the Humanitarian Foundation, and we want to be here for special needs children for generations to come!

We are so pleased to have 42 Drs. of Smiles from 18 states and Canada visit the Humanitarian Foundation office. We have an ambitious agenda planned for you and are anxious for you to take back what you learn to your individual Grottoes. Your efforts change the lives of special needs children in your community and make the work of the Foundation possible. We applaud you!
